My body is a cave

Of bottomless depths

Where I tread water in the dark

Swallowing emotion

And searching for a light.

My body is a cave

Where a great monster hides

Eating soulful passions whole

And spitting up bones

Which get stuck in my throat.

My body is a cave

That weaves down endless

On a slippery slope

Of sweat and tears

With walls painted red.

My body is a cave

Where the same beat echoes

Off damp heart rock

That is mined for gold

Every waking second.

My body is a cave

Where love hides in shadows

Motionless and hesitant

Born in the darkness

And self-conscious in the light.
